2012 PURE STOCK AND TEAM CAR RULES
Car & Body
- 1960 or newer, all steel OEM American stock passenger or truck body. Must remove all glass, plastic, upholstery, and front inner shield. ALL holes in firewall and rear seat panel must be filled.
- All chrome, glass and light fixtures must be removed.
- Must retain stock firewall, floor pan and trunk area except when cutting is allowed for fuel cell. If car has an aftermarket firewall, it has to be in stock locations and seats have to be in stock locations.
- Cars must be strictly factory stock. No chopping, channeling, shortening, or cutting allowed. No holes in hood and hood must be kept in place at all times. Body sheet metal must be kept in place at all times.
- Tow chain is mandatory on front and rear. (Chain or cable)
- Minimum weight at any time is 3200 pounds with driver.
- Added weight must be bolted and securely fastened. Technical Inspector must approve the installation.
- All weights must be painted white and numbered to car.
- All cars must have number on both doors and on the top (18’ or larger) and must be very visible.
- Hood pins mandatory.
- No aftermarket spoilers.
Safety
- Must have a 5 point shoulder harness. All belts must be securely bolted to roll cage.
- Car must have a working fire extinguisher.
- Must have racing seat. Must have complete fireproof suit, gloves, and shoes. Neck collar is required.
- All batteries that are mounted inside of driver’s compartment must be completely enclosed in a marine type box with a lid and mounted securely.
- Window net recommended
Roll Cages
- You must have a 4-point main cage as wide as the mainframe rails following the body contour on both sides. Using .095” at least 1.66” diameter tubing.
- Must have a minimum of four door bars on the left and three door bars on the right using 1.25” .083” wall thickness tubing.
- Must have front hoop. Rear down tubes off of roll cage can go no further back than the center of the wheel well hump.
- Front hoops may have only one kicker on each side. Rear kickers may extend to rear bumper but cannot have down kickers. Only two running rearward from cage!
Engine – (Must remain in stock position)
- No high performance cylinder head configurations. (Must use OEM GM, Ford, Chrysler, etc.) 305 heads allowed. NO Vortec, Double Humps or Turbo Heads.
- Valves are to be no bigger than 1.94” Intake and 1.60” Exhaust.
- May run dish or flat top pistons only.
- No engine set back allowed – must stay in stock position.
- Hydraulic cams only!
- Maximum 480 lift at valve.
- Must use a stock cast iron Two or Four barrel intake and exhaust manifold. No Marine or Corvette Intakes.
- Can run headers.
- Aluminum radiator is allowed.
- Must pull 18 inch-lbs of vacuum at intake port.
- Don’t cut out frame or move mounts to run center dump exhaust.
- No more than 180 psi of compression!
- One inch oil plugs in pan for inspection. Aftermarket racing pans are allowed.
- 350 cubic inch engine in Chevy and 351 cubic inch engine in Ford are as large as can be run.
- Roller tip rockers are allowed.
Ignition
- You must use a single wire HEI distributor.
- Ignition must be Stock. No MSD or aftermarket distributor allowed.
- Battery must be mounted securely in car in an enclosed container.
Carburetor
- Cars may have one stock unaltered Two Barrel or Four barrel carburetor.
- Adapter plates for Four to Two barrel allowed…..spacers are allowed
- Stock Carburetor only! No Holley’s, Edelbrock, etc.
- Gasoline only, no alcohol. Racing fuel is allowed.
Transmission & Rear Ends
- Locked, welded or positive traction rear ends are allowed.
- Power glides are allowed.
- Transmission must retain stock torque converter.
- Must use stock OEM steel flywheel and pressure plate.
- No Direct Drive allowed or jack shafts.
- Stock rear end or Nine inch Ford rear end allowed. Floaters optional
- Must have a drive shaft hoop.
- Drive shaft must be painted white or silver and must be steel.
- No aluminum flywheels or triple disk clutch.
Brakes
- Allowed aftermarket brake pedals but no adjustable brake bias.
Gas Tank Installation
- If you must cut trunk out for fuel cell clearance you must box back in with 22 gauge steel so the cell sits down into it. Cell can hang no lower than 4” below frame rails.
- The stock tank must be removed and replaced with a racing fuel cell with steel can.
- No fuel lines in the driver’s compartment. No electric fuel pumps.
- Tanks must be secured by four over the tank straps. Two in each direction 1 ½” x 1/8” strips.
- Installation subject to inspection by the Technical Inspector.
Suspension
- Stock shocks and springs only. Racing springs are allowed but they must be 11 inches in length with no spacers allowed.
- All shocks and springs must stay in stock location using factory mounts only.
- No jack bolts or jacking devices, front or rear.
- Front and rear suspension must match the frame.
- Any car found to be modified in any way will be disqualified.
- No Weight jacks or aluminum racing shocks.
Tires and Wheels
- Any DOT approved radial street tire is permitted up to a 60 series. No racing, mud, snow or recap tires allowed. You can run EMod, A or H only.
- Maximum 8” wheels.
- Steel wheels only. No grooving but you can sipe.
- Bead lock optional on right rear only.
- No steering quickeners.
- Mandatory that aftermarket lugs and nuts are 1”
Inspection
Any car is subject to inspection by track officials at any time. Refusal to permit inspection will result in immediate disqualification and will lose all money and points for that night. Technical Inspector’s decision is final! If you are caught cheating twice you will be moved up to the Street Stock Division.
Situations not covered in any of these rules will be handled at the discretion of the track officials as they arise.
